Discussion Topics

The purpose of KEPSC Roadway Inspectors (KEPSC-RI) is to qualify erosion and sediment control inspectors for roadway projects as required by Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction, published by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, Department of Highways. Prior to this course, inspectors were qualified through KEPSC-Basic Course.  This newly developed course specifically addresses linear projects and the specific requirements of the Transportation Cabinet.   View Course Description

Payment

Payment is required in advance, except employees of the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.

Who Should Attend

The target audience consists of technicians, technologists, and other employees of the highway contracting industry and the Kentucky Department of Highways who are performing erosion prevention and sediment control inspections under KYR10 or individual construction stormwater permits.

Individuals having KEPSC Basic qualification may continue to use this qualification while working on construction projects through its qualification date. After qualification has expired, those Kentucky Transportation Cabinet employees and contractors performing erosion prevention and sediment control inspections under KYR10 or individual construction stormwater permits will need to qualify by taking the KEPSC-RI training.

Agenda

To reduce overtime and travel during this time of budget restrictions, course times have been set as follows: The on-site registration desk opens and sign-in begins 30 minutes prior to the scheduled class start time. Most classes begin at 8:00 a.m. or 8:30 a.m., and adjourn between 3:00 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. You will receive exact times through your confirmation letter two weeks prior to the course.

Students attending the entire six hours of training are eligible for testing and qualification as a KEPSC Qualified Inspector.   The testing process will be open-book and will be based upon materials covered in course work. Students will be notified of pass/fail within 15 business days of completion of testing.  Should the student fail the exam, he/she will be permitted to re-take the exam at no additional cost at another scheduled time.  Should a student fail the exam twice, he/she will be required to re-take the entire course and pay the registration fee.  The term of qualification is three years.

Attendance

To help a participant get the most out of each training course/workshop, attendance is limited. However, without the required minimum of 15 people, a course will be cancelled. All courses are subject to change. If there are any changes, the registered party will be notified immediately. Click on the course descriptions listed above to register. NOTE: State employees wishing to register for a KEPSC course should contact their District Training Coordinators. All state registrations must come to us from the Training Coordinators.

Cancellation

If you are registered and cannot attend, please let us know at least two business days prior to the workshop. If we do not receive advance notice of your cancellation, you will be charged the full registration fee. Someone may substitute for you at any time. All cancellations will be given a cancellation number.
