The Kentucky Transportation Center Library is a departmental library in the College of Engineering that is open to the public. The Library supports the research, technology transfer, and education efforts of the Center.

  Types of Materials Available

Books, technical reports, videos, periodicals, CD-Rom products

Pavements, materials and testing, geotechnology, structures, environmental analysis, traffic and safety

Information/Literature Searches

     Need to locate a specific title?  Need information on a subject?  Need a literature search?  The library staff can search the resources available to them to locate the items or information you need.  Call them at 800-432-0719 or locally at 257-2155 or 257-8267 or email them at KTC Library.  You may also search TRIS online (http://ntl.bts.gov/tris), a free bibliographic database of the transportation literature.

  Borrowing Materials

General books and reports may be borrowed for four weeks, with renewal possible if no one else has requested the material.

Videos may be borrowed for two weeks at a time.
Requests for materials may be made by phone, fax, email or in person.

  Interactive CD-Rom

     The interactive CD-Rom is used for on-site, individual or small group self-paced training. The CD-I player and disks may be borrowed for two weeks. It is to be connected to a television, which you provide. The CD-I disks that may be borrowed include:

Inspector's Job Guide for Highway and Street Construction

Purchase a copy for $4.00 each. This guide covers the very basic duties of inspection by reference to key activities. Chapter headings include: Concrete Curb, Gutter, Walk, Driveway and Barrier; Paving; Culvert Pipe Installation; Storm Sewer Installation; Grading; Seeding, Finishing, Etc.; Structures; Geotextiles; Bituminous Surface Treatment; Wind Chill Equivalent Temperature; and information on using metrics. It includes Highway Maintenance Tables. (There is no on-line version)
