Basis of Course

The Level I Traffic Signal Technician Certification course is a two-day course.  This level of certification is the entry level for personnel within the traffic signal field.  The purpose of this level is to ensure that employees have had exposure and have been tested over the basic knowledge and safety procedures needed for the specialized field of traffic signal operations. Among the study program are sections on signal justification; signal operations planning and design; traffic signal configuration design; introduction to signal system design; fundamentals of signal installation; and field maintenance of traffic signals.

What We Offer
We offer a two-day workshop for entry level certification in the traffic signal field.  

Please Note:  Participants must have taken an IMSA approved Work Zone Traffic Control Course in order to attend this course.  The Center's course is an approved IMSA WZTC Course (click on WZTC to sign-up).

 

Who Should Attend

Any local, state or private employee wishing to obtain certification in Traffic Signal Technician.


Registration and Fee
The registration fee is $400 for state and private agencies and $200 for local government employees. This fee includes materials, training and testing.  State employees wishing to register need to contact their District Training Coordinator. All others may register online (click dates below), by phone (859-257-4513 x277), or by fax (859-257-1061). Please register early since class size is limited.
